Denver Performing Arts Complex

Participants: Edward Collins, Philip Crowly, Richard Falkenrath, Dr. Stephen Flynn, Dr. Douglas Jackson, Suzanne Mencer, Robert O'Leary, Major General (Ret.) Mason Whitney, James Witt

The 2008 Emergency Preparedness Roundtable is designed as a discussion among ten to twelve participants. A facilitator will lead the Roundtable, encouraging a dynamic, substantive interchange among participants. Seated in a venue with a capacity for 200 persons, the audience for the Roundtable will include individuals with a particular interest in emergency preparedness.

Roundtable Focus

The Roundtable will examine the critical functions in emergency preparedness, and possible strategies, public and private sector partnerships, financing mechanisms, and the quality of the information and distributions systems.

In this context, topics of the Emergency Preparedness Roundtable may include:

  1. How do we best protect our water supplies?
  2. How do we maintain production and distribution of natural gas and electricity?
  3. How do we maintain and use communication systems during times of extreme duress and overload?
  4. Who will protect and secure the aviation system and supporting facilities?
  5. How will all of the basic city services and infrastructure be maintained and repaired?
